Ingredients

  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. vinegar
  • 1 tsp. prepared mustard
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 medium onion, minced
  • 1/4 c. cracker crumbs
  • 2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper

Method

  • Combine tomato sauce, brown sugar, vinegar and mustard in a small bowl.
  • Set aside.
  • Combine egg, onion, cracker crumbs, ground beef, salt and pepper in a mixing bowl.
  • Add 1/2 cup of the tomato mixture and blend thoroughly.
  • Shape into an oval loaf and place in an oblong baking dish.
  • Make a depression in top of loaf. Pour remaining tomato sauce over top of meat.
  • Bake at 350° for 1 hour.
