- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 c. dried bread crumbs
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 Tbsp. basil, crumbled
- 2 Tbsp. minced parsley
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. ground pepper
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 4 c. tomato sauce
- 1/2 lb. grated Parmesan cheese
Method
- Combine beef, bread crumbs, garlic, parsley, basil, egg, salt and pepper.
- Mix thoroughly and shape into balls 1 1/2-inches in diameter.
- Melt oil in a saucepan.
- Brown the meat balls lightly on all sides.
- Drain off the fat.
- Add tomato sauce; cover and simmer 40 minutes.
- Serve over spaghetti and pass the cheese.
