Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 c. dried bread crumbs
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. basil, crumbled
  • 2 Tbsp. minced parsley
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. ground pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 4 c. tomato sauce
  • 1/2 lb. grated Parmesan cheese

Method

  • Combine beef, bread crumbs, garlic, parsley, basil, egg, salt and pepper.
  • Mix thoroughly and shape into balls 1 1/2-inches in diameter.
  • Melt oil in a saucepan.
  • Brown the meat balls lightly on all sides.
  • Drain off the fat.
  • Add tomato sauce; cover and simmer 40 minutes.
  • Serve over spaghetti and pass the cheese.
