- 2 lb. 88% ground beef
- 1 c. onion, chopped
- 1 c. green pepper, chopped
- 1 c. canned mushrooms, drained
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 tsp. oregano
- 2 cans condensed tomato soup
- 1 3/4 c. tomato sauce
- 2 c. water
- 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 3 c. cooked noodles or 1/2 dry
- 6 oz. Cheddar cheese, shredded
Method
- Steam meat and rinse with hot water; drain well.
- Microwave onion and green pepper in small amount of water for 4 minutes; drain excess water.
- Combine with mushrooms and seasonings. Combine tomato soup, tomato sauce, water and Worcestershire sauce and add to meat.
- Mix well.
- Cook noodles in boiling water until almost tender; drain and rinse.
- Spray a 9 x 13-inch pan.
- Spread 2 cups meat sauce on bottom of pan.
- Cover with about 1 1/2 cups noodles on top.
- Spread 2 cups meat mixture on top.
- Cover with half of cheese.
- Repeat with noodles and then rest of meat.
- Bake, covered, for 45 minutes at 350°.
- The last 10 minutes of baking, uncover and sprinkle with remaining cheese and heat until melted. Yields:
- 12 (1/2 cup) servings.
