Ingredients

  • 3 c. cabbage
  • 1/4 c. onion
  • 1/4 c. green pepper
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 c. margarine
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. celery seed
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 c. cottage cheese
  • 3 c. cooked broad noodles
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. horseradish

Method

  • Finely chop cabbage, onion and green pepper.
  • Mix with salt and let stand for 30 minutes.
  • Squeeze out any liquid.
  • Heat margarine in deep skillet.
  • Add vegetables, sugar, milk and pepper.
  • Cook over low heat 20 to 25 minutes or until vegetables are tender to slightly golden.
  • Stir frequently.
  • Add noodles, horseradish, cottage cheese, lemon juice and celery seed.
  • Heat through.
  • This can also be made by placing into greased casserole and bake, uncovered, for 30 to 35 minutes.
  • If done this way, add about 3/4 cup milk after filling casserole.
