Ingredients

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 14 cup oil
  • 1 cup water (more or less)

Method

  • By hand softly blend the dry ingredients, then oil and when all ingredients are blended well slowly blend in the water till you get a nice soft, smooth, elastic ball.
  • Make sure you don't over blend to avoid making a tough ball.
  • Heat a griddle.
  • Best to cook with a cast iron skillet etc.
  • Divide the dough into 8 to 12 even dough balls.
  • Lightly kneed them into disks.
  • Place the disks into flour and roll out on a dusted surface.
  • (this takes practice).
  • Place rolled tortillas into heated skillet/griddle and turn once little bubbles appear.
  • Then cook onto other side, then turn once more.
  • Place in a towel to keep warm.
  • When done slather with butter -- yuuuum!
