Ingredients

  • 1 (11 oz.) can mandarin oranges
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 3/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/4 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. butter, melted
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Method

  • Drain oranges on paper towel.
  • Sift flour before measuring. Sift into large bowl: flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, allspice and 1/2 cup sugar.
  • Cut in shortening to fine crumbs.
  • Combine egg and milk and add to dry mixture until flour is moistened.
  • Spoon into greased muffin tins.
  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 350°.
