Ingredients

  • 1 lb. box casserole size elbow macaroni
  • 1/2 lb. Colby cheese
  • 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 2 slices toasted whole wheat bread
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. diced onion (optional)
  • 1 lb. can tomatoes

Method

  • Boil macaroni and drain.
  • Add milk, butter, salt, pepper and onion.
  • Add cheese, but reserve a little for the top.
  • Be sure to stir occasionally as cheese melts.
  • Add toasted bread that has been broken into bite size pieces.
  • Add tomatoes and stir gently. Sprinkle cheese on top.
  • Bake at 350° to 375° for 30 to 35 minutes.
