Ingredients

  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. elbow macaroni
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • pepper to taste
  • 2 c. grated sharp cheese

Method

  • Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain and place in a buttered 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.
  • Melt butter; stir in flour and blend well.
  • Gradually add milk and cook over medium heat until thick.
  • Add salt, pepper and 1 1/2 cups of cheese, stirring to melt cheese.
  • Gently mix sauce with macaroni. Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup of cheese.
  • Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 30 minutes.
  • Serves 6.
