Ingredients

  • 1 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 1/3 c. flour
  • 2 c. milk, scalded
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. chopped Macadamia nuts
  • 1 baked 8-inch pie shell
  • 1/4 c. granulated sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 3/4 c. dark molasses
  • 3/4 c. hot water
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 pastry crust

Method

  • Mix molasses with hot water, blending well.
  • Mix flour, sugar and
  • soda.
  • Cut
  • in
  • butter to form coarse crumbs.
  • Line pie dish with
  • pastry.
  • Pour in 1/3 of molasses mixture.
  • Top with
  • crumb mixture.
  • Repeat,
  • adding
  • alternate
  • layers with crumbs on top. Bake for 35 minutes at 375°.
