Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. yeast (RapidRise)
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. (approximately) dark Karo syrup
  • 1/2 c. (little less) vegetable oil
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. rye flour
  • 1 1/2 c. wheat flour
  • 4 c. (approximately) white flour

Method

  • Mix all dry ingredients except 2 cups of the white flour. Heat milk, syrup and vegetable oil (follow directions on yeast package). Add to flour mixture, then add the egg.
  • Add the remaining flour until consistency is right.
  • Let rise until doubled.
  • Knead and form into loaves.
  • Let rise again in bread pans, approximately 20 minutes. Bake at 425° for 20 to 25 minutes.
