Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup Flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 pinch sugar
  • 1 warm water
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/2 tsp Baking powder

Method

  • To one cup flour add baking powder, salt, sugar, 2 tbsp oil and mix
  • Add warm water little by little and make a soft dough (should not be too sticky)
  • Apply oil to the dough surface, cover and leave for 25 minutes
  • Divide the dough into four parts and make balls with each part
  • Roll out each ball as thin as you possibly could by sprinkling dry flour to it
  • Apply oil onto the rolled surface with a brush and sprinkle dry flour over it
  • Lift 1/3 inches using fingers and fold backwards making strips
  • Fold the whole parata in this way until a long strip is formed
  • Hold the two ends of the strip and give it a little swing
  • Roll the strip into a swiss roll shape
  • Dust it with flour and flattened it ( should not be so thin )
  • Add a drop of oil onto a pan and keep the parata in it
  • Heat each side until slightly brown
  • Repeat the procedure to make parata with the rest
