Ingredients
- 1 c. soft butter
- 2 c. sugar
- 5 eggs
- 1 c. blackberry jam
- 3 c. flour
- 1 c. chopped raisins
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1/2 tsp. allspice
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 c. chopped nuts
Method
- Cream butter and sugar until light; add eggs.
- Beat well after each egg is added.
- Add jam and beat well.
- Add sifted flour, soda, salt, cloves and allspice, alternately with buttermilk, beating until smooth.
- Stir in raisins and nuts.
- Pour into 9-inch layer pans.
- Bake at 325° for about 35 minutes.
- Frost with caramel frosting.
