Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. soft shortening
  • 1 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 3/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. walnuts, coconut or chocolate chips

Method

  • Mix shortening, sugar and eggs thoroughly; stir in milk and vanilla.
  • Sift together flour, salt and soda and stir in batter. Blend in walnuts.
  • Chill 1 hour. Heat oven to 375°; drop rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart on greased baking sheet.
  • Bake 10 minutes.
  • Cool.
  • Frost with butter icing.
