Ingredients

  • 3 c. unsifted flour
  • 2 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. oil
  • 4 unbeaten eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. orange juice
  • 2 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 6 apples, thinly sliced
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon

Method

  • Mix flour, 2 1/2 cups sugar, oil, eggs, salt, orange juice, vanilla and baking powder.
  • Set aside.
  • Fold apples with 3 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon.
  • Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan.
  • Alternate batter and apples.
  • (Start with batter, end with apples.)
  • Bake approximately 2 hours at 350°.
  • Place shallow pan full of water below cake rack to keep cake moist.
