Ingredients
- 1 small chopped onion
- 1 lb. chopped beef or chicken
- 1 large (35 oz.) can peeled tomatoes
- 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen peas
- 1/2 tsp. oregano
- 2 Tbsp. olive oil
- salt and pepper
- Romano or Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 lb. pasta (medium shells)
Method
- In a saucepan, saute onions in olive oil until softened.
- Add the chicken or beef and brown over medium heat.
- Put tomatoes through a mill and add to mixture.
- Season to taste.
- Simmer uncovered approximately 20 minutes.
- Add peas, lower heat and cook an additional 10 minutes.
- Cook and drain pasta according to directions.
- Toss pasta with sauce, sprinkle with cheese and serve. Yields 4 servings.
