Ingredients

  • 1 box spice cake mix
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 corn oil
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 c. blackberry jam
  • 1 c. nuts
  • 1 c. raisins

Method

  • In a large mixing bowl, sift together flour, spices and soda. Add cake mix, oil, buttermilk and eggs.
  • Blend until moistened. Beat two minutes at medium speed.
  • Blend in jam at low speed. Stir in nuts and raisins.
  • Pour into three floured and paper lined 9-inch cake pans.
  • Bake in a preheated 350° oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
  • Cool layers in pans 10 to 20 minutes before removing.
