Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 3/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 can (1 lb.) tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp. chopped parsley
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. basil
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 12 oz. pkg. spaghetti
  • Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 tsp. sugar

Method

  • Heat oil in heavy skillet.
  • Add onion, green pepper and garlic and cook until onion is lightly browned.
  • Add meat and brown.
  • Then add tomatoes, tomato sauce and seasonings.
  • Cover and simmer slowly 1 1/2 - 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  • Cook spaghetti according to package directions.
  • Serve with Parmesan cheese.
