Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. Italian sausage (bulk or remove from casing)
  • 1 pkg. chopped frozen spinach
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1/4 c. Romano cheese, grated
  • salt and pepper (if desired)
  • 2 lb. frozen bread dough
  • egg yolk
  • sesame seed

Method

  • Saute onion and garlic slightly in oil; add sausage and cook for 15 minutes.
  • Then add spinach and cheese.
  • Cook until spinach is thawed and then another 15 minutes.
  • Set aside to cool.
  • Let dough thaw and rise for a few hours.
  • Roll out oblong shape. Spread half of filling on each of two halves.
  • Roll up; put on greased sheet and let rise again for 1 hour.
  • Coat with egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seed on top.
  • Bake at 375° for about 25 to 30 minutes until brown.
