Ingredients
- 1 c. uncooked rice
- 4 c. milk
- 1 tsp. shortening
- 1/4 to 1/2 c. bread crumbs
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 5 egg yolks
- juice and grated rind of 1 lemon
- 1 tsp. salt
- 5 egg whites, stiffly beaten
Method
- Cook rice in milk at a low simmer until milk is absorbed and rice is tender.
- Cool to room temperature for 30 to 40 minutes.
