Ingredients

  • 2/3 c. Crisco shortening
  • 1 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/3 c. cocoa
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

  • Heat oven to 375°.
  • Combine Crisco, sugar, water and vanilla. Beat on medium speed until blended.
  • Beat eggs into mixture. Combine flour, cocoa, soda and salt.
  • Mix into creamed mixture at low speed until just blended.
  • Stir in chocolate chips by hand. Drop by spoonfuls of cookie sheet.
  • Bake in oven for 7 to 9 minutes.
  • Do not overbake.
  • Makes about 3 dozen.
