Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. onion
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 (1 lb.) cans tomatoes
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 (3 oz.) can mushrooms
  • 1/4 c. parsley
  • 1 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. monosodium glutamate
  • 1/4 tsp. thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 c. water
  • cheese as needed

Method

  • In a large
  • skillet, cook onion in hot oil until almost tender.
  • Add
  • meat and
  • garlic; brown lightly.
  • Add remaining ingredients.
  • Simmer, uncovered,
  • to
  • 2 1/2 hours or until sauce is nice and thick.
  • Stir occasionally.
  • Remove bay leaf.
