Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. Wesson oil
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg (scant)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • cinnamon

Method

  • Mix first 5 ingredients together.
  • Save 3/4 cup mixture for topping.
  • Add all remaining ingredients except cinnamon and mix until most of the lumps are dissolved.
  • Pour into 2 greased and floured 8 inch square pans or round cake pans.
  • Sprinkle generously with cinnamon and swirl with knife.
  • Sprinkle on reserved topping mixture.
  • Bake at 350° about 30 to 35 minutes.
