Ingredients
- 4 c. flour (all white) or 3 c. whole meal and 1 white
- 1 rounded tsp. baking powder
- 1 rounded tsp. baking soda
- 1 level tsp. salt
- 2 oz. margarine
- buttermilk to make a slack dough
Method
- Mix all dry ingredients together.
- Rub in margarine.
- Add buttermilk and mix to a dough.
- Place dough on a floured board and knead into a round shape.
- Place in a greased and floured 9-inch pan.
- Cut a cross right through the dough.
- Bake in a 380° oven for 55 minutes or when a skewer comes out clean.
