- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1-1/2 pounds lean ground beef (90% lean)
- 1/2 pound ground pork or turkey
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup chili sauce
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
Method
- Preheat oven to 350°. Combine first six ingredients. Add beef and pork; mix lightly but thoroughly. Shape into 1-1/2-in. balls. Place on a greased rack in a 15x10x1-in. pan. Bake until a thermometer reads 160° (165° if using ground turkey), 35-40 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, combine sauce ingredients; bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 10 minutes. Gently stir in meatballs.
