Ingredients
- 1/2 c. water
- 8 large cooking apples, peeled and quartered
- 5 large ripe pears, cored and quartered
- 2 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced
- 1 tsp. grated orange rind
- 1/3 c. fresh orange juice
Method
- Combine water, apples and pears in 5-quart kettle.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until fruit is soft.
- Stir in bananas.
- Put fruit through food mill or sieve; return to kettle and stir in remaining ingredients.
- Cook over medium heat until thick, about 1 hour, stirring frequently.
- Cool, then pour into jars and refrigerate.
- Makes 6 pints.
