Ingredients
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. milk
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. shortening
- enough cooled chicken broth to cook dumplings
Method
- Mix flour, salt, baking powder, egg and shortening thoroughly. Add 1/4 cup broth to make dough stiff.
- Roll dough into 1/4-inch thickness and cut.
- Add milk to broth.
- Heat and add dumplings, salt and pepper to taste.
- Bring to a rolling boil, then turn heat down to low.
- Cook slowly until done.
