- 1 pound grnd beef
- 1 lg. onion, coarsely minced
- 1/2 med. head cabbage, minced or possibly shredded
- 6 c. chicken broth
- 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp. salt
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 3 peppercorns
- 4 allspice berries
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 (12 ounce.) can V8 juice
- 2 (6 ounce.) cans tomato paste
- Grated cheese or possibly lowfat sour cream for garnish
Method
- Brown beef in a heavy soup pot, add in onions and stir till soft.
- Combine all ingredients except V8 juice and tomato paste.
- Simmer for 1 hour.
- Add in V8 and tomato paste and simmer another 30 min.
- Serve topped with grated cheese and-or possibly dollop of lowfat sour cream.
