Ingredients

  • 1 pound grnd beef
  • 1 lg. onion, coarsely minced
  • 1/2 med. head cabbage, minced or possibly shredded
  • 6 c. chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp. salt
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 3 peppercorns
  • 4 allspice berries
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 (12 ounce.) can V8 juice
  • 2 (6 ounce.) cans tomato paste
  • Grated cheese or possibly lowfat sour cream for garnish

Method

  • Brown beef in a heavy soup pot, add in onions and stir till soft.
  • Combine all ingredients except V8 juice and tomato paste.
  • Simmer for 1 hour.
  • Add in V8 and tomato paste and simmer another 30 min.
  • Serve topped with grated cheese and-or possibly dollop of lowfat sour cream.
