Ingredients

  • 1/2 Atsuage (firm)
  • 1 medium Potato
  • 1 Sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp Soy sauce
  • 1 dash Salt
  • 1 tbsp Panko
  • 1/2 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Juice from grated ginger (optional)

Method

  • Either boil the atsuage in water (about 1 minute) or microwave (about 40 seconds).
  • Lightly squeeze out the excess water.
  • Roughly tear it apart with your hands.
  • Grate the potato and add this to Step 1.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients and divide the mixture into 3.
  • Press into round patties.
  • Heat sesame oil in a frying pan and fry both sides until brown.
  • If you want a light dish, have it with soy sauce or ponzu sauce.
  • If you want a richer dish, have it with tonkatsu sauce.
  • My children eat them on their own.
  • I like to have mine with ponzu sauce and ginger.
