Ingredients

  • 14 cup sugar
  • 14 cup boiling water
  • 3 lbs sirloin steaks, 1-1/2 inches thick
  • 23 cup soy sauce
  • 23 cup water
  • 14 cup cooking sherry
  • 1 medium gingerroot, grated (about 3 T.) or 3 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced

Method

  • Combine sugar and boiling water; cook and stir until sugar dissolves, creating a sugar-and-water syrup.
  • You should have approximately 1/4 cup syrup.
  • Cut sirloin in 1-1/2-inch cubes.
  • Marinate about 10 minutes in sauce made by combining sugar-and-water syrup with remaining ingredients.
  • Thread on skewers.
  • Broil or grill about 7 minutes or until desired doneness.
  • Turn and brush frequently with sauce.
  • Heat remaining sauce and pass with beef.
