Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 1 c. old fashioned Quaker oats
  • 1 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt (optional)

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Mix flour with 1/2 cup oats, 1/2 cup brown sugar and margarine.
  • Spoon into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Bake for 10 minutes.
  • Cool.
  • Beat eggs.
  • Add remaining oats, brown sugar, baking powder, vanilla, salt and pecans.
  • Spread over cereal mixture.
  • Bake 25 minutes longer.
  • Cool, then cut into bars.
