Ingredients
- 1 c. self-rising flour
- 1 large Tbsp. softened lard
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1/2 c. margarine, softened
Method
- Mix flour, buttermilk and lard with a spoon.
- Knead very, very lightly.
- Pat dough out (do not roll) until about 1-inch thick. Cut out biscuits.
- Brush with melted margarine.
- Put on bottom rack of preheated 400° oven.
- Take out when brown on bottom (about 15 to 20 minutes).
- Butter again.
- Put on top rack and broil for just a few minutes.
- Watch carefully as they will burn.
