Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef or ground turkey
  • 2 onions, sliced thin
  • 1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes, chopped coarse (with juice)
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. freshly ground pepper
  • 3/4 c. freshly grated Parmesan (plus more for sprinkling)
  • 1 lb. vermicelli

Method

  • In a deep large skillet, saute the meat and onions over medium-high heat until meat is cooked through and onions are softened. Add tomatoes, their juice, cinnamon, salt, pepper and 1/4 cup Parmesan. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, and simmer the sauce for 30 minutes.
