- 1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef or ground turkey
- 2 onions, sliced thin
- 1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes, chopped coarse (with juice)
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. freshly ground pepper
- 3/4 c. freshly grated Parmesan (plus more for sprinkling)
- 1 lb. vermicelli
Method
- In a deep large skillet, saute the meat and onions over medium-high heat until meat is cooked through and onions are softened. Add tomatoes, their juice, cinnamon, salt, pepper and 1/4 cup Parmesan. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, and simmer the sauce for 30 minutes.
