Ingredients

  • 1 head cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 12 lb ground sausage
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 teaspoon salt (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon pepper (to taste)
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 1 quart tomatoes (diced?)

Method

  • Preheat oven to 300.
  • Cook rice according to directions.
  • Saute celery and onion in salt & pepper.
  • Brown beef and sausage.
  • Mix beef, sausage, onions, celery, rice, salt & pepper in a large bowl.
  • Separate cabbage leaves, keeping them whole.
  • Blanch leaves 5 minutes in boiling water.
  • Remove leaves from water.
  • Roll mix in cabbage and fasten with a toothpick.
  • Place in covered pan or casserole.
  • Pour tomatoes over rolls.
  • Cook slowly for about an hour or until done.
