Ingredients

  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. self-rising flour
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 baked pie crust

Method

  • Heat
  • milk
  • in double boiler. Add sugar, flour, cocoa and salt
  • (well
  • blended),
  • stirring
  • until thick and smooth, about 20 minutes.
  • Beat egg yolks and pour a small amount of hot mixture
  • into
  • the eggs
  • and
  • stir.
  • Then pour back into mixture in double boiler for 5 more minutes, stirring constantly.
  • Add vanilla and pour into baked pie shell.
  • Top with meringue and brown.
