Ingredients

  • 5 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 2 tsp. water
  • 1/2 boiling water
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Separate the whites and yolks of 5 eggs.
  • Add water to the yolks and beat.
  • Add sugar slowly into the yolks and beat well. Add boiling water to the egg yolk mixture and beat well.
  • Then add flour, baking powder, salt and vanilla.
  • In separate bowl, beat egg whites and 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar.
  • Then fold into the yolk mixture.
  • Pour cake mixture into an angel food cake pan (separates into two parts).
  • Put into a cold oven set at 300°. Bake 1 hour.
