Ingredients

  • 3 lb. 15% or 22% fat ground beef
  • 3 very large onions
  • 3 large cloves garlic
  • potatoes (as many as wanted)

Method

  • Form the meat into extra large meatballs (about 6-inch). Brown well in heavy skillet.
  • Remove from pan.
  • Add cold water to the pan and scrape all the brown bits from the bottom of the pan while still very hot.
  • Turn heat to low and add as much water as needed for gravy to cover all meat, potatoes and onions.
  • Make your gravy with flour, salt, pepper and crushed gravy to taste.
  • Put meatballs back in skillet, cover with thinly sliced onions and peeled potatoes (cut in half).
  • cover completely with gravy. Cover and simmer 2 or 3 hours.
  • The longer, the better.
