Ingredients

  • 12 cup butter (scant)
  • 1 tablespoon onion, chopped
  • 14 cup flour
  • 12 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 34 teaspoon salt
  • 14 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 34-2 cups milk
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • French style green bean, drained (2 or 3 cans)
  • slivered almonds (optional)
  • durkee fried onions (optional)

Method

  • Mix butter, onion, flour, ground mustard, salt, pepper and milk.
  • Boil until thickened.
  • Add cheddar cheese and stir until melted.
  • Add drained green beans.
  • Pour into casserole dish and sprinkle with slivered almonds.
  • Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  • If you want to use the fried onions, sprinkle them on top for the last 10 minutes of baking time.
