Ingredients
- 5 c. sifted, self-rising flour
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 c. Crisco
- 1 tsp. soda
- 2 pkg. yeast, dissolved in 1/4 c. warm water
- 2 c. buttermilk
Method
- Combine dry ingredients.
- Cut in shortening and stir in yeast and buttermilk.
- Knead dough until smooth.
- Roll and cut as desired.
- Bake on middle rack of preheated oven at 450° for 12 to 15 minutes.
- Dough can be covered and refrigerated for a week, using as needed.
