Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. melted margarine
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 tsp. almond extract
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c. plus 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. slivered almonds

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Line an 8 or 9-inch round cake pan with aluminum foil.
  • Combine melted margarine and sugar in large mixing bowl.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  • Add pinch of salt, almond extract and vanilla.
  • Stir in flour until ingredients are well blended.
  • Pour batter into the foil-lined pan.
  • Sprinkle the remaining sugar and almonds over top of batter.
  • Bake 35 to 40 minutes until cake is golden brown.
