Ingredients

  • 3 lemon wedges
  • Superfine sugar
  • 2 dashes of Angostura bitters
  • Ice
  • 1 ounce gin
  • 1 ounce sloe gin, preferably Plymouth
  • 1/2 ounce sweet vermouth
  • 1/2 ounce Cointreau or other triple sec
  • 1 lemon twist

Method

  • Moisten half of the outer rim of a martini glass with 1 of the lemon wedges and coat lightly with sugar.
  • In a cocktail shaker, muddle the remaining 2 lemon wedges with the bitters.
  • Add ice and all of the remaining ingredients except the twist.
  • Shake well and strain into the prepared martini glass.
  • Garnish with the lemon twist.
