Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. Hershey's cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2/3 c. vegetable oil
  • 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/3 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

Method

  • Stir cocoa and baking soda in mixing bowl.
  • Blend in 1/3 cup oil.
  • Add boiling water.
  • Stir until mixture thickens.
  • Stir in sugar, eggs and remaining 1/3 cup oil.
  • Stir until smooth.
  • Add flour, vanilla and salt.
  • Blend completely.
  • Pour into lightly greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan or two 8-inch square pans.
  • Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes for a 13 x 9-inch pan or 30 to 32 minutes for an 8-inch square pan.
  • Cool.
  • Frost, if desired.
