Ingredients

  • 1 c. evaporated milk
  • 6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate morsels (1 c.)
  • 1 c. miniature marshmallows
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • vanilla wafers
  • 1 qt. vanilla ice cream
  • whole pecans or walnuts

Method

  • Put milk, chocolate morsels, marshmallows and salt into a heavy 1-quart saucepan.
  • Stir over medium heat until chocolate and marshmallows melt completely and mixture thickens.
  • Take off heat. Cool to room temperature.
  • Line bottom and sides of 9-inch pie pan with vanilla wafers.
  • Spoon half of 1 quart vanilla ice cream over the wafers.
  • Cover with half of chocolate mixture.
  • Place whole nuts on top.
  • Freeze until firm, 3 to 5 hours.
