Ingredients

  • 1 c. diced, dried apricots
  • 3/4 c. diced, pitted prunes
  • 1 1/2 qt. water
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced with peel
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced with peel
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. quick-cooking tapioca
  • 2 tart red apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 c. seedless raisins
  • 1/4 c. dried currants

Method

  • Put the first 3 ingredients in a saucepan; let stand for 10 minutes.
  • Add cinnamon, orange, lemon, sugar and tapioca; bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Add the remaining ingredients and cook until the apples are tender (about 5 minutes).
  • Take out the cinnamon stick.
  • Chill.
  • Serve cold.
