Ingredients
- 1 qt. boiling water
- small piece ham hock (preferably cured ham)
- 1 qt. butter beans, shelled and washed
- 6 to 7 pods okra
- 1 tsp. butter
- salt and pepper to taste
Method
- Into boiling water, place ham hock and let boil 10 to 15 minutes.
- Add beans; simmer, covered, for 30 minutes.
- Add okra, butter, salt and pepper.
- Continue cooking 30 minutes longer, maintaining water level.
