Ingredients
- 5 small onions, finely sliced crosswise
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 3 (10 1/2 oz.) cans beef consomme
- 2 (10 1/2 oz.) cans water
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp. salt or 1 beef bouillon cube
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 8 slices French bread, cut 1-inch thick
- 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 1/3 c. grated Parmesan cheese
Method
- Separate onions into rings and cook in melted butter until glossy.
- Add consomme, water, Worcestershire sauce, salt or cube and pepper.
- Bring to boil.
- Cover tightly and cook over low heat for 15 minutes.
