Ingredients
- 3 large onions
- 1 qt. beef broth
- 1/4 c. white wine or sherry
- 4 slices thick sliced bread
- Parmesan cheese
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- salt
- Swiss cheese, grated
- 2 Tbsp. butter
Method
- Preheat broiler.
- Butter both sides of bread.
- Arrange on baking sheet.
- Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
- Broil 3 to 5 minutes until golden brown.
- Cut into squares and set aside.
- Slice onions thinly.
- Melt butter in large skillet and add onions.
- Saute over medium heat about 15 minutes or until onions turn light golden color.
- Heat broth in saucepan.
- Add sauteed onions.
- Season with salt to taste.
