Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 c. lukewarm water
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 4 c. sifted white flour

Method

  • Dissolve yeast in water.
  • Add salt, butter and 2 cups of flour.
  • Stir with spoon.
  • Add 2 more cups of flour.
  • Turn out and knead dough until smooth (about 6 to 8 minutes).
  • Place in a buttered bowl and turn surface until coated with butter.
  • Let rise until double in bulk (about 1 1/2 to 2 hours).
