Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 lb. beef short ribs
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. molasses
  • 2 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1 tsp. liquid smoke
  • 1 Tbsp. minced onion

Method

  • Sprinkle salt and pepper on all sides of meat and put in a 3-quart casserole.
  • In a small pan, combine tomato sauce with molasses, vinegar, liquid smoke and onion; bring to a boil and simmer 5 minutes.
  • Pour over ribs.
  • Cover and bake in slow oven at 275° for 3 to 4 hours or until very tender.
  • Spoon off excess fat.
