Ingredients

  • 4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 3/4 c. vegetable shortening
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. water

Method

  • Combine flour, sugar and salt; cut shortening into mixture with a fork.
  • In a separate bowl, beat vinegar, egg and water. Pour into flour mixture and stir with a fork until mixture is moistened.
  • Shape into a ball, wrap in wax paper and chill for 15 minutes.
  • Roll out on a cold pastry board or between two pieces of waxed paper.
  • Bake at 425° or until golden brown.
  • Good crust!
