Ingredients
- 4 large ripe tomatoes
- 1 large green pepper
- 1 large onion (preferably red or sweet)
- 3/4 c. vinegar
- 3/4 c. water
- 1 1/2 tsp. celery salt
- 4 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 1/8 tsp. mustard seed
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1/8 tsp. black pepper
Method
- Skin tomatoes and cut into quarters. Slice peppers into strips. Slice onion into thin rings. Arrange vegetables into neat sections in a large Pyrex bowl. Combine remaining ingredients in a saucepan and boil furiously for one minute. Pour over vegetables. Cool slightly and refrigerate. Just before serving, sliced cucumbers can be added.
